Administration Overview

Topographer provides comprehensive tools for managing your organization, teams, users, and permissions. This guide covers the administration features available in the dashboard.

The Topographer dashboard uses a flat navigation structure organized into four main sections:

  • Topographer: Access core features like Query, Surveys, and Reports
  • Organization: Manage organization-level settings, teams, users, projects, and view activity logs
  • Project: Configure project settings and generate API credentials
  • User: Access personal settings and preferences

Key Concepts

Organizations

An Organization is the top-level container for all your projects and users. If you belong to multiple organizations, you can switch between them using the organization picker in the navigation.

Teams and Roles

Teams are the primary mechanism for granting users access to projects. Each team has assigned roles that determine what permissions team members have. Every organization starts with two system teams: Admins and Members.

Users

Users are managed at the organization level. You can invite new users, assign them to teams, and manage their access across projects.

Permissions

Topographer enforces permissions throughout the dashboard and API. Permissions are granted through team membership and roles, ensuring users only have access to the features and data they need.
